下町の保育園に母親の勝と居宿している光は、殉職した警察官の父を尊敬していた。周囲の心配をよそに、婦人警官を志し、親友の香子、次代と共に警察学校の試験に合格する。やがて、配属先の上野署の刑事であり幼馴染の進矢と光は廻りの人達に支えられつつ2人の愛を育んでいく
