A year later, he signed a record deal with Too $hort/Jive Records, solidifying his position as a talented producer. However, at 21, Phillips decided to go independent as a recording artist. In pursuit of furthering his education and creative skills, Phillips decided to shoot his own music videos at 29. It was then that So Gorilla Films Media was born. Over the years, Phillips and his company have become a force in the video production and film industry, with a portfolio that includes over 200 music videos, 4 documentaries, involvement in numerous TV network reality shows, and 11 films (and counting).
