His last short film Georgia (2020) was nominated for a Korean Oscar, has been featured in The New Yorker’s Screening Room Video Series, and ranked 6th on Screen Rant’s “10 Best Short Films Ever Made According to Letterboxd.” For his latest project, Jayil delved into the world of K-pop, directing a critically acclaimed Disney+ original docuseries on the K-pop sensation NCT 127, uniquely incorporating theater, animation, and performance art.
