La Luciérnaga is Hermida's first feature film. It was nominated for Best Foreign Film, Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the Madrid International Film Festival in 2015. It was an oficial selection at the Atlanta Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine in La Habana, Cuba, among other.
