He directed several short films and the feature film Los dinamiteros (1964), a comedy inspired by Italian neorealism. In the 1970s, Atienza shifted his focus to writing, producing over 50 books that delve into historical and anthropological themes, particularly exploring the mysteries of the Middle Ages and the legacy of the Knights Templar.
