Bayly has been a performer since she was a child, and became a professional actress in 1954, having started as a theatre performer. She is a founding member of Sydney's Ensemble Theatre, and best known for her Logie-winning role as Grace (Mum) Sullivan in the long running soap, The Sullivans.
