She embarked on a career as an actress. Her father was the first generation rakugo performer Hayashiya Sanpei, and her mother was Kayoko Ebinamai. Her uncle was Kisaburo Nakane, a fishing rod craftsman and the brother of Kayoko. Her younger sister is Yasuyo Ebina, and she has a younger brother, 9th generation Hayashiya Masakura, and 2nd generation Hayashiya Sanpei. She tied the knot with actor Ryuta Mine after they co-starred on the "Ohayo! Kodomo Show." The couple has a daughter who is not a celebrity and a son, former Johnny's Jr. member Hiroshi Shimoshima.
