He first gained widespread public recognition in 2017 when he participated as a trainee on the Mnet survival reality show Produce 101 Season 2. Though eliminated in the earlier rounds, his unique presence earned him the nickname 'Kkachi Bal Sonyeom' (Tip-toe Boy), which significantly boosted his public profile and provided a solid foundation for his subsequent acting career. Following his exposure on the survival program, He transitioned into lead and supporting roles in various dramas, particularly in the web drama sphere. His notable early works include the fantasy comedy web drama Oh! Dear Half-Basement Goddesses (2017) and the romantic comedy I Have Three Boyfriends (2019), where he played one of the main leads, Min-joon.
