Despite a height of 6’5” (1.95 m) and a weight of 220 lbs (100 kg), those close to him described him as "a gentle giant who towered over most people yet looked down on no one." On November 14, 2022, Hazen's boyfriend, Aaron Thomas, announced on social media that Hazen had suffered heart failure in Palm Springs and was "in the ICU fighting for his life."
