He achieved his breakthrough in 1992 with the lead role in *Kleine Haie*, for which he—alongside Jürgen Vogel and Gedeon Burkhard—received the Bavarian Film Award. In the years that followed, Wiesinger starred in numerous successful German films, including *Der bewegte Mann*, *Frauen sind was Wunderbares*, and *Stadtgespräch*. He also appeared regularly in historical and dramatic productions, such as *Comedian Harmonists*, *14 Tage lebenslänglich*, and *Nichts als die Wahrheit*, starring alongside Götz George. Wiesinger also took on numerous lead roles in television productions, including *Dresden*, *Die Gustloff*, and the series *Die Anwälte*. In 2014, he portrayed former Federal President Christian Wulff in the TV movie *Der Rücktritt*, for which he received the Bavarian Television Award.
