His career came to a stop due to a fracture in his femur. Benjamin later immersed himself in the Israeli self-defense Krav Maga, where he became a black belt. He also trained in tactical shooting and evasive driving, which led him to work for the Guatemalan presidential elections in 2011 and other high profile events.
