He trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and then moved to Los Angeles to study method acting under Shelley Winters and Lee Strasberg. Young was a series regular on spy action television series Alias (2001–04), playing Dr. Zhang Lee. He appeared in such films as You Only Live Twice (1967), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Emperor (1987), Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), Nixon (1995), Seven Years in Tibet (1997), The Transporter (2002), and American Gangster (2007).
